New Quatech Single Port Serial USB Adapter Provides Higher Speed Communication

by Anonymous

Quatech Inc.,a prominent manufacturer of data communication and data acquisition products for PC-based systems, is pleased to announce the
release of the redesigned SSU-100. Part of their FreedomUSB Series, the SSU-100 is a single port RS-232 serial adapter for USB. The new model is
implemented with a 9-pin serial connector for use with most modern PC's. It can also transfer data at speeds up to 460.8 kbps-a significant
improvement over the 115.2 kbps limitation on the standard serial port.

Quatech's SSU-100 provides a single RS-232 serial interface to a PC via the USB port. The adapter supports serial transmission at all common
legacy device bit rates. It was designed to allow the continued use of existing application software designed for traditional serial devices, thus the
SSU-100 enumerates itself as a standard COM port and consistent identification is ensured with internal unique electronic serialization. The
SSU-100 is a low-powered device that conveniently draws its power from the USB bus itself. It supports suspend and resume operations, as well as
remote wake-on-ring. The SSU-100 is currently supported under Windows 98/Me/2000. Solaris support will be released soon.

Quatech's new SSU-100 lists for $79. For more information about the SSU-100, Quatech's FreedomUSB Series, or any other Quatech product,
